An enlightened being, who was traveling around the world to find people, sat at a certain square. A placard beside him read, ‘I am an enlightened being. Anybody who would like to know things of the world can ask any kinds of questions. Come and ask!”
Around him, lots of religious people were shouting at the crowd to believe in their religions. The enlightened being said to the people in front of him.
“Things of the world are not made to come into being by gods. Like in mathematics, things of the world come into being by what exists and meaning of what exists.”
Then, a man from a certain religious group said to the enlightened being.
“Does God exist?”
“Why do you ask me the question?”
“I am asking because you are telling us to ask any questions.”
“Gods exist. In the air or in the world of a different dimension, there are gods.”
At the answer, the religious man said as if he was waiting for such an answer.
“If God exists, please show it to me straight away.”
“Okay. By the way, I think I have to check whether or not you can recognize gods when I show them to you. Do you have religion?”
“Yes, I do.”
“What is the objective of having your religion?”
The religious man hesitated to answer.
“Please ask another question.”
The enlightened being said to him who was confused and embarrassed.
“You always hear about your religion, see what people in your religion do, and propagate your religion. However, you do not properly know even about what you always hear, see, and say. Then, when I demonstrate gods to you, how can you recognize them, which you have never heard or seen before?
The religious man did not say anything.
